Icomera Adds Switch Option to Icomera X-Series Routers

Icomera, the world’s leading provider of continuous connectivity solutions for transport, is extending its line of Icomera X Series routers. Icomera X4 and Icomera X6 can now be ordered with a built in eight port switch with Power over Ethernet (PoE), making it ideal to power, for instance, onboard network cameras for video surveillance.

This news comes on the back of a just finished installation of more than 400 buses to the largest Swedish bus company, Nobina. With the new versions of Icomera X4 and Icomera X6 there is no longer a need for extra hardware to power onboard cameras. And since the NVR application is running on the Icomera X Series router, the only things required for a complete installation are the Icomera X Series router, the NVR application and up to eight network based cameras.

In addition to the eight Ethernet ports, the new switch option also includes a number of digital inputs and outputs to further extend the capabilities of the Icomera X Series router.

“This is a great addition to the Icomera X Series router family,” says Martin Bergek, Vice President Business and Product Development. “It will simplify the onboard design, particularly for applications including network video surveillance.”

Icomera is now taking orders for Icomera X Series routers with this new switch option.
