September 29th 2014 – Mobile connectivity pioneers Icomera have been selected by Siemens Convergence Creators GmbH & Co.KG to provide IOB (Internet onboard) services for their rail customers. This announcement coincides with the signing of a five year framework agreement between Icomera and Siemens CVC and work has already commenced on several projects.

Speaking at the signing of the agreement, Dr. Gerald Schreiber, CEO of Siemens Convergence Creators Germany commented: “Siemens Convergence Creators always look to work with the very best specialists in each industry and Icomera, with their superior connectivity solutions, certainly satisfy our criteria. By utilising their technology we can ensure we meet not only our customers’ immediate mobile Internet connectivity needs, but also lay the foundations to support their future requirements”.

Karl-Johan Holm, President and CEO of Icomera, added: “It is a real honour for us to receive this kind of recognition from Siemens Convergence Creators given their outstanding reputation for quality and innovation in a wide range of industries. We are excited by this opportunity to take our best-in-class connectivity services to Siemens’ customer base”.

Icomera and Siemens have already showcased several early success stories from their partnership at last week’s InnoTrans trade fair, including a demonstration of Siemens’ Media4Rail application hosted on Icomera’s award-winning X6 mobile Internet connectivity and applications router.

The Media4Rail application offers rail passengers on-demand blockbuster movies and a playlist of their favourite music videos from the world’s biggest artists. Real-time information about the passengers’ next train connections and individual travel plans brings added passenger convenience and peace of mind to the offering. Together Icomera and Siemens are delivering a truly 21st century rail experience.
