First bus coaches with Icomera Internet access
November 1st, 2007, Göteborg
When Botkyrka buss ordered three new long-distance coaches earlier this year it felt natural to include passenger internet access as one of the many new features. Using Icomera’s supported solution, passengers having a laptop can now surf the web, send and receive e-mails, and connect to their company’s internal data network. A total of ten coaches will be equipped during this autumn.
”We want to respond to an increasing demand from our passengers. Many of them would like to be able to work and be entertained on board” says Dennis Widmark, Botkyrka Buss’ CEO. “The typical user can be a foreign visitor, who we pick up at the airport and who would like to read his e-mails, or a team coach, who wants to get a sports news update, or an executive, who needs to review his presentation before he arrives at a business meeting. There is a lot of demand for passenger internet and it’s certainly very nice to be the first coach company that can offer this service. The support, including help-desk, that we and our passengers get from Icomera makes a lot of difference.”
“Botkyrka Buss is our first customer in the tourist coach business” says Frederik Gustafsson, Icomera’s CEO. “There are many applications for our technology for both coaches and commuter buses. As with our other customers we offer a completely supported service including monitoring and help desk.”
The uniqueness of Icomera’s communications solution is that it uses several IP-based networks and technologies in parallel to achieve unmatched bandwidth and connectivity, a patented Icomera solution.
