Icomera wins Railway Interiors award

At yesterday’s inaugural Railway Interiors Gala Dinner at Cologne, Germany, Icomera was honoured with the “Innovation of the Year” award for Passenger Infotainment, pioneering the industry with Wi-Fi on trains.

The Railway Interiors Expo Innovation and Excellence Awards ceremony was held yesterday, announcing the winners of the eight categories, all with terrific products and designs singled out for praise by an international panel of independent judges.

Among the proud winners was Icomera for its success with Wi-Fi on trains – a service delivered to thousands of passengers every day. Recently the one millionth user was registered, and already the two million user bracket is rapidly approaching.

At his speech at the Railway Interiors conference, Icomera CEO Frederik Gustafsson, focused on operational efficiency when he said, “Any train operator can make huge savings by having its rolling stock Wi-Fi connected. Passenger internet access is a great success for our customers, even though the largest potentials for Wi-Fi connected trains lie within fleet management, maintenance planning, information and logistics planning.

“Railway operators seem to have unlimited resources for managing outdated systems, rather than trying to become more efficient. Icomera certainly has the means to trigger a modernisation process”.
