Icomera launched the world’s first high-speed Internet technology for trains in September 2002 and in eight short years we have hosted more than 15 million on-train internet users. For nearly a decade Icomera’s technology has been in daily commercial use on some of the world's busiest and most prestigious rail routes serving millions of high speed rail passengers every year with onboard broadband services, as well as providing real-time connectivity for mission-critical on-board systems.

The availability of Wi-Fi connectivity on public transport has developed at an incredible speed. In the UK alone, Icomera has supplied its technology to hundreds of vehicles for major transport operators such as First Group, National Express and DB Regio. Internet access on trains is rapidly becoming a core passenger expectation, particularly among business travellers and a key reason for travelling by rail instead of by car or plane.

Taking on-train business systems online and giving them a continuous connection back to HQ enables onboard crew to work more efficiently. The ability of the Icomera system to aggregate bandwidth across multiple providers and network types also provides high bandwidth capacity to transmit footage from internal or external CCTV cameras onboard trains in real time, thus accelerating reaction and resolution times during any incident.
