Stay Connected on the New Chiltern Train Line: Oxford to London Made Easier with 4G Wi-Fi Upgrade

Last week marked a historical milestone for Chiltern Railways who unveiled their new station Oxford Parkway. They also announced the launch of their new train line linking Oxford with London Marylebone which is the first to link High Wycombe with Oxford in 50 years. The new line provides journey times of less than an hour into the capital and is expected to attract an additional quarter of a million commuters each year.

In addition to the new station and train line, Chiltern Railways have upgraded their existing onboard Wi-Fi to 4G, giving commuters a faster Internet connection and enhancing the passenger experience. Chiltern Railways carriages on the Oxford route also have tables and power sockets making it easy for commuters to be charged and connected throughout their journey.

Since the introduction of free onboard Wi-Fi in 2011, overall passenger satisfaction ratings have increased and Chiltern hopes for this trend to continue following the upgrade to faster 4G Wi-Fi.

Mark Carne, Chief Executive of Network Rail, said: “By working closely with Chiltern Railways on this part of our Railway Upgrade Plan we have been able to deliver precisely what its customers want – a much-needed new transport option for High Wycombe-based business and leisure travellers to Oxford.”

To promote the new line, Chiltern Railways has produced the following video:
