Icomera Leading the Way Within ITxPT

Icomera has earned the ITxPT label for its multi-modal mobile Internet connectivity platform for Public Transport vehicles.

Seamlessly deployable across Trains, Trams, Coaches, Buses and Ferries, the Icomera solution is built around open architecture principles, allowing for interoperability between different systems and devices. This is aligned with Icomera’s continued commitment to supporting the Connected City strategies of PTOs and PTAs, and of its parent company ENGIE.

ITxPT was formed in 2013 by IT suppliers, vehicle manufacturers, Public Transport Operators (PTOs) and Authorities (PTAs), in order to develop an IT architecture based on agreed standards for digital communication on-board, over-the-air and to back-office/cloud services. Since then, the initiative has grown rapidly, both in terms of membership (there are now 102 member companies from 20 countries) and reach: ITxPT compliance is increasingly becoming a requirement in public tenders. Having joined the association at the end of 2015, Icomera works as a Strategic Member on the Executive Board, developing standards for open IT architecture together with its ITxPT partners.

To achieve ITxPT labeling, several Icomera modules (along with the Module Inventory Service) passed rigorous testing at the ITxPT test bench in Paris. The Icomera VTC ICR-2, an Icomera Connectware Router deployed in bus markets, has been declared ITxPT compliant. The Icomera X³, aimed at coach and bus markets, and the Icomera X³ (Rail), its sister product for the tram, metro and train market, have also received the ITxPT label. All modules are now labeled in accordance with ITxPT specifications S01 v2.0.1 & S02 v2.0.

Anders Selling, Secretary General of ITxPT said: “The ITxPT standard is becoming increasingly influential, and we have seen a rapid increase in interest by significant PTOs and PTAs. We value Icomera’s ongoing commitment to actively contributing to standards-building within the public transport industry.”

Jemima Woolverton, Product Manager at Icomera and ITxPT Executive Board Member said: “We are very happy to be the first company in the world to offer a fully multi-modal ITxPT solution, promoting public transport usage by supporting better, simpler and safer travel for passengers. Connected Cities will need to align across all their transport fleets and Icomera is perfectly positioned to deliver into this huge Green Mobility opportunity. We look forward to continue working in partnership with other ITxPT members to shape the IT standards of the future.”
